Betting on the Premier League Matches – 20th to 22nd August

Betting on the Premier League Matches – 20th to 22nd August

Last week wasn’t perhaps the most exciting weekend in Premier League history, but it had it’s moments and gave fans and pundits something to talk about. The two Manchester sides are looking the top dogs at the moment, as teams like Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool were all held just emphasize how tough the league is getting. QPR started with a shocker and that shocked me (look at last week’s) but take nothing away from Bolton who were brilliant on the day. Tottenham and Everton couldn’t play last week, but expect them to be hungry this week and will want to start with a bang. There is some mouth watering clashes this weekend as the league’s big guns will start to face each other, as well as 1st v 2nd this week. As I will be doing on a regular basis, I will give some predictions, tips, and some random ones which could win you large sums of money! The Premier League is unbelievably unpredictable, so I will put in a few results which may get your head turning. Good luck!

Sunderland v Newcastle – Saturday 12:00pm

Nothing better than starting the weekend with a derby! Sunderland have bigger laughs over Newcastle in terms of where they have finished in the league, but Newcastle are better on the head to head. Last season Sunderland got whooped 5-0 at Newcastle. Sunderland needed a last minute goal to get a draw at home to Newcastle, so I think it’s a win for them is due. They started the season well last week with a 1-1 draw at Anfield, where Newcastle held Arsenal 0-0. The bookies have made Sunderland slight favourites for this fixture (6/5) whereas Newcastle are at 23/10. Like I said, Sunderland are due a win in this fixture, and I tip them this weekend.

Correct Score; 3-1 (16/1)     First Goal Scorer; Gabriel Obertain for Newcastle (12/1)
Special; Newcastle to lead at Half time, but lose at Full time (22/1)

Arsenal v Liverpool - Saturday 12:45pm

One of the most anticipated fixtures of this weekend, and I am not sure what to expect! Arsenal, feel a bit sorry for themselves, as Fabregas has gone and Nasri will soon be gone too, but they still have quality in their team but are certainly not the same force. Liverpool were highly expectant after finishing last season so well, and bringing in some new faces, but must feel slightly deflated after drawing to Sunderland last week. This game will be hard to predict, but after seeing some signs of Arsenal's play the last few weeks, I   am seeing their defensive fragility so I am going to punt for an away win (2/1). Arsenal are only 11/8 to win at home, and it hasn't been like that for quite some time. A draw in my opinion is the most likely outcome, yet my money is on an away win. Liverpool havn't won on Arsenal turf since 2000, so I believe they are due.

Correct Score; 1-2 (12/1)     First Goal Scorer; Andy Carrol for Liverpool (7/1)
Special; To be more than 4 goals in this match (11/4)

Aston Villa v Blackburn - Saturday 3:00pm

Aston Villa started their campaign with a rather boring 0-0 draw at Fulham, however at least they have a point on the board unlike their opponents. Blackburn were defeated by Wolves last week, and there should be question marks about Blackburn as they only just beat the drop last season, and haven't improved their squad much over the summer. The form between these two is up and down as both picked up wins against each other on a regular basis. They haven't drawn to each other in the last 6 games, and I don't personally think they will draw this one. Aston Villa are the favourites for this clash (8/11) and I think Alex McCleish will get a win on his home debut, against a Blackburn side I don't give too much hope for (4/1).

Correct Score; 1-0 (6/1)     First Goal Scorer; Darren Bent for Aston Villa (4/1)
Special; Aston Villa to win with 2 or fewer goals scored in the match (5/2)

Everton v QPR - Saturday 3:00pm

Thanks to alphabetical order, QPR went from 20th to 19th on Monday night, so didn't finish the first weekend bottom. Nevertheless they had a disappointing start against Bolton, and were expected to put up more of a fight then they did. Everton of course didn't play last weekend against Tottenham due to the riots. Everton haven't had many ins or outs this summer, but if they start like they finish a season, then there is no reason why they can't climb the league, and challenge the top 6. Everton are 8/15 to win this match, as the bookies don't give newly promoted QPR much of a chance at 11/2. Crazy things happen in the Premier League though, and QPR are one match fitter than their opponents. I'd go for an away win here, as Everton always start slowly, and that will boost your winnings on an accumulator!

Correct Score; 1-3 (40/1)     First Goal Scorer; Jay Bothroyd for QPR (9/1)
Special; QPR to score first and to score last (9/2)

Swansea v Wigan - Saturday 3:00pm

Roberto Martinez used to manage Swansea so it will be a good feeling to return to his former club. Swansea started well against Manchester City on Monday night, but in the end got a thumping by the title chasers, as they unveiled new boy Sergio Aguero. Wigan had a disappointing draw with Norwich last week, and I believe Wigan will be one of the teams that will be drawn in the relegation battle this season. This game will be a tight one and Swansea are slight favourites for this clash at 6/5 compared to Wigan who are 23/10. I think with it being Swansea's first ever home game in the Premier League, I believe they will win this clash against their former manager.

Correct Score; 3-1 (18/1)     First Goal Scorer; Scott Sinclair for Swansea (5/1)
Special; Swansea to score 4+ goals in the match (10/1)

Chelsea v West Brom - Saturday 5:30pm

Chelsea started their season drawing 0-0 at Stoke, in what proved to be a tough game. With both Manchester clubs doing well in the first week, they cannot afford to slip up in this fixture. The result of this particular game last season was 6-0 and for that to happen again is 33/1. West Brom gave Manchester United a tough game last week, and only narrowly lost to the champions. Chelsea are strong favourites for this game being priced at 1/4. West Brom are 11/1 to win this match. Chelsea always seem to beat West Brom, so the away side will be hoping for a change of fortune. I still pick Chelsea for this match however, as Torres looks a lot more sharper and Chelsea have so many goals in them and have a fantastic home record.

Correct Score; 3-0 (7/1)     First Goal Scorer; Frank Lampard for Chelsea (9/2)
Special; Didier Drogba to score first and Chelsea win 6-0 (75/1)

Norwich v Stoke City - Sunday 1:30pm

Norwich are back in the big time and they achieved a good 1-1 draw away at Wigan last week. They are one of the favourites to get relegated this season, but if they go into every game knowing how much they have to fight, then they have a chance. Stoke City is always a tough game, as they are improving every season. They gave Chelsea a tough game last week, securing a 0-0 draw against them. Stoke also won a Europa League tie on Thursday night, keeping another clean sheet in the process. Norwich, because of home advantage, are slight favourites for this match as they are priced at 6/4, with Stoke at 9/5. A draw is 23/10 and that in my opinion is the most likely outcome. However, I am going for an away win on this occasion.

Correct Score; 0-2 (10/1)     First Goal Scorer; Jonathan Walters for Stoke (7/1)
Special; There to be 0-1 goals in the match (2/1)

Wolves v Fulham - Sunday 2:00pm

Wolves survived last season on the final day with just minutes to go, and Mick McCarthy will make sure his side don't give him the same treatment at the end of this season. Wolves started their season brightly last week with a win at Blackburn. Fulham started well with a good performance, but couldn't hit the back of the net as they drew 0-0 at home to Aston Villa. Wovles are 11/8 for this match, whereas Fulham are 2/1. It should prove to be a tight match and Fulham haven't won here in there last 3 meetings, and both of these fixtures last year ended in a draw. I have a feeling this one will too, and both would settle for it in my opinion.

Correct Score; 0-0 (8/1)      First Goal Scorer; Steven Fletcher for Wolves (7/1)
Special; The match to be drawing at half time and at full time (7/2)

Bolton v Manchester City - Sunday 4:00pm

This is the 1st v 2nd clash and what a game this could be. Both teams won 4-0 in their fixture last week. These two teams played each other on the last day of last season which was a nothing game which saw Manchester City win 2-0. However, I am expecting this match to be a far closer match and for Bolton to give Manchester City a real tough game, as they can too play great football. For Manhcester City, you have to feel confident when it seems Sergio Aguero is going to start his first game, and start up front with Dzeko or even Carlos Tevez, which would be interesting. Bolton are not given much chance by the bookies, as they are 4/1 to win this match, albeit at home. Manchester City are 8/11 favourites for this match. For me, I cannot seperate the sides, so I am going for a draw, a score draw at that.

Correct Score; 2-2 (16/1)     First Goal Scorer; Sergio Aguero for Manchester City (7/2)
Special; Manchester City to be leading at half time, but draw at full time (16/1)

Manchester United v Tottenham - Monday 8:00pm

This is arguably the most mouth watering clash of the weekend, and it's the one we have the longest to wait for! Manchester United have won every game in pre-season including the emphatic 3-2 victory of Man City in the Community Shield, then followed it up with a win at West Brom to kick start their Premier League season. As for Tottenham, they haven't started yet due to their first game being postponed. They played Hearts on Thursday night and ripped them to shreds as they won 5-0. This match however, is going to be tough, as they haven't won at Manchester United in a long long time. In fact, they haven't even beaten Manchester United since 2001, which is a long time ago now, considering the amount of ability they have in their team. Is it time for them to win now? They are not given much hope as they are 9/2 to win there on Monday night. Manchester United are believed to be strong favourites as they are 8/13 to win. I personally think we'll see a surprise here, not a Tottenham win, but I think they will achieve a draw in this fixture.

Correct Score; 1-1 (6/1)     First Goal Scorer; Van der Vaart (8/1)
Special; Manchester United to score 4+ goals in the match (4/1)

I always like to do the multiples (accumulators) and see last weeks where I got them all wrong, but close. One of them I missed on one game which would of won me £180. Ah well, always this week, and here are my tips.

Barcelona v Real Madrid (2nd Leg) – Betting Tips!

Betting on Barcelona v Real Madrid...

The first leg of this tie was fantastic. Real Madrid showed great energy and pressing to outplay Barcelona for most of the match. Mourinho and Real Madrid are quickly learning and therefore improving to match a Barcelona side, who are also improving as they have added Alexis Sanchez and Cesc Fabregas to their team. The other night however, Real Madrid were very unfortunate to draw the game 2-2. Ronaldo had enough chances to score a hat trick, where Barcelona scored from most of their chances, albeit one brilliant strike for David Villa. I may be getting a bit carried away though, let's not forget how good this Barcelona side is, and a learned a rule last year, and that is to never bet against Barcelona...

Outright Winner

Short and simple, this is where you bet on the outright winner, and by that I mean who will lift the trophy - Barcelona or Real Madrid? I fancy the home side, because they are just too good at home, and if they perform to what they are capable of, then no team can match them. Barcelona are 1/3 whereas Real Madrid are 9/4, so that shows you who the bookies fancy.

My Recommendation; Barcelona Win (1/3)

Match Betting

This is where you bet on the outcome after 90 minutes. The odds in that case are a lot closer, as a Barcelona win is just 5/6 with Real Madrid being priced at 15/6. I do have a feeling Real Madrid will win at the Nou Camp this season, but I think it will take place in the league instead of tonight, but that's just a hunch. With Xavi expected to be back, not sure about Busquets and obviously Fabregas to be apart of it in some way, then I see a happy night for the Barcelona team, so I expect them to in in 90 minutes tonight.

My Recommendation; Home Win (5/6)

First Goal Scorer

So many to choose from. So many attacking abilities on the field, and so many players score for fun during the season. You have Ronaldo on one side, and Messi on the other and it's so easy to choose one of them. I tend to look at other quality players that great ability and can score goals, but their odds are longer than the favourites, so the midfield magician (which one?) gets my vote.

My Recommendation; Andres Iniesta (12/1)

Goal Crazy

There was 4 goals in the first leg, but I don't believe we will see the same tonight. Real Madrid won't play as attacking as they did in the first game and will hope to nick a goal on the counter. Barcelona will have a lot of possession and pressure, but I can't see them scoring many goals either. Better play it safe with the favourite.

My Recommendation; 2-3 Goals scored in the Match (EVENS)

One more for Luck

Benzema to score first, but then Barcelona to win 2-1 (75/1)

Betting on Arsenal v Udinese

Betting on Arsenal v Udinese

This game has probably come to soon for the Arsenal fans. This game has huge importance, and a bad performance or result here could cost their season in terms of Champions League football. Italian football isn't the force it once was, but Udinese will be a tricky game for Arsenal, and it promises to be an intriguing match.

Match Betting

Arsenal are strong favourites for this clash, but don't forget they are home. Also, don't forget that betting on this match is only the first leg, and no to go through. Arsenal are 8/15 to win tonight, and take a lead back to Udinese. 11/4 is a draw, and for an away win it's 11/2. If you are willing to bet £25 on Arsenal, you'll get nearly £40, but I don't think that's even worth the risk! Arsenal are low on morale here, and Udinese will frustrate them tonight. I can see Udinese getting a draw here, despite how hard it is away from home in Europe. With odds at 11/4, it's worth putting the money on. £25 on a draw (if you are feeling lucky) will get you around £95 back!

My Recommendation; Draw (11/4)

Correct Score

This season, in the Premier League anyway, there has been a lot of 0-0 draws. The games have been tight and not being played at full tempo. With odds like 11/1, then a 0-0 draw is worth a punt. I don't think there will be many goals at all in tonight's match, but I'd go for a 0-0, but that's just me.

My Recommendation; Arsenal 0-0 Udinese (11/1)

First Goal Scorer

Van Persie will always get my vote when Arsenal players, however he will not be in action tonight. Gervinho or Chamakh are the most likely candidates, but in games like this, set pieces and defenders have just as much chance to make the break through.

My Recommendation; Thomas Vermaelen (20/1)

Goal Crazy

You can do 'Goal Crazy' for the the match itself, or the home or away team. For example, Udinese to score 4+ goals is 50/1, you never know. Arsenal to score 0-1 goals is 5/4 and I would probably recommend that. I am underestimating Arsenal I know, and this post will looks silly if they stick 4 or more past Udinese tonight (9/2 by the way) but I can't see Arsenal doing that. They are lacking that cutting edge at the moment and I can't see too many goals in this match.

My Recommendation; 0-1 Goals (11/5)

One more for Luck

Arsenal to be leading at half time, but the match to end in a draw - 16/1

Betting on Manchester City v Swansea

Betting on Manchester City v Swansea

One more game left this weekend and that's Manchester City hosting newly promoted side Swansea this Monday night. Here are a quick few tips on betting on this clash.

Match Betting

Manchester City are clear favourites in this fixture, as they are at 2/7 odds. Are you willing to risk a lot of money on this to win money? Betting £40 will win you £51 so if you are feeling lucky tonight, that could be a guaranteed £10 for sure. Swansea are 10/1 to win this match, but in all honesty, no one can see this shock tonight surely. Manchester City are always cautious in most games and make sure they don't leak silly goals at the back. Swansea will be up for the match, no doubt but I think even a draw will be a brilliant result for the away side.

My Recommendation; Manchester City Win (2/7)

Correct Score

Manchester City did struggle to score goals at home last season, especially as teams set their stall out and Man City have usually have trobule when breaking teams down. Swansea played good attractive football last season, but if they were to leave themself open tonight it would make it easier for the home side. I think City will win comfortably tonight, and I think they have 2 or 3 goals in them.

My Recommendation; Manchester City 2-0 Swansea (5/1)

First Goal Scorer

With Carlos Tevez not expecting to start, then it's not sure who will start for Manchester City. Sergio Aguero is the new man, but manager Mancini doesn't expect him to start on this occasion. Dzeko and Balotelli are both 4/1 so therefore the most likely. However, I recommended that Kompany would score first in the Community Shield, and I was somewhat close considering it was Lescott who did score first, so betting on a defender will stretch the odds. I fancy David Silva to score first on this occasion, as he always seems to be involved in City's build up play. If you fancy greater odds, then any Swansea player would do that, although them scoring at all isn't likely.

My Recommendation; David Silva (7/1)

Goal Crazy

This is where you bet on the amount of goals you think will be scored in this match. 17/10 are the odds for 4+ goals which is not bad at all. I always tend to bet on more goals, as when I am viewing the match, I encourage more goals to happen! I personally think it will be 2-3 goals in this one.

My Recommendation; 2-3 Goals (EVENS)

Betting on the Premier League Matches – 13-15th August

Betting on the Premier League Matches – 13-15th August

The Premier League season starts tomorrow and the anticipation couldn’t be greater. It was a fantastic season last year, showing the true quality of the Premier League. We had many great moments, fantastic goals and each match had its story. Any team in the division can beat anyone else and the tightness of the league was the closest in Premier League history last season. Teams needed more than 40 points to stay up, and only 80 points was good enough to win the title. This season should prove to be even more fascinating than the last one. Who will go down? There are so many teams that cannot think that they are too good to stay up this season. Who will win the title? Are Liverpool back on the radar? United to make it 20? What about Manchester City? Where will Arsenal finish this season after losing their top two performers. Since the last season finished, I, and I’m sure everyone else, couldn’t wait till the new season started and we’re less than 24 hours away. I have some betting predictions below, but remember that on the first week of the season, we don’t know where everyone is in terms of fitness, form, and how the new squads are shaping up! So I’d prepare to be risky on the first day. Last season we saw Blackpool win 4-0 at Wigan on their first day, Chelsea put 6 past West Brom so you never quite know what to expect. There is only 9 games this weekend due to Tottenham v Everton being postponed because of the riots. It’s a shame as that sounded like an intriguing game, but safety is of course paramount. The other 9 games, 6 on Saturday, 2 on Sunday and 1 on Monday night, I have predicted my betting tips and you’re welcome to read and see if you agree with me!

Blackburn v Wolves – Saturday 3:00pm

These two teams played their reverse fixture on the last day of last season. As we remember, Blackburn took a shock 3-0 half time lead, before Wolves came back to 2-3, but it was enough for both sides to stay in the Premier League. What do we expect this time? Blackburn are favourites for this clash (EVENS) but I wouldn’t put money on that. Blackburn won this fixture last season 3-0, but in a game where Wolves provided a lot of chances but failed to take any. I think McCarthy will have his team ready, and Blackburn seem to be under more pressure because of their owners. With Samba and Nelsen out for Blackburn, I’d fancy Wolves chances to have a right go here. I fancy a draw for this fixture, with both teams scoring goals or a goal.

Correct Score; 2-2 (14/1)     First Goal Scorer; Jamie O’Hara for Wolves (10/1)
Special; Wolves to be winning at half time, but final time result ends in a draw (14/1)

Fulham v Aston Villa – Saturday 3:00pm

Thankfully this game is going ahead after some doubts with the rioting. These two like drawing to each other, as both matches finished in draws, with the result at Fulham being 1-1. Both sides have new managers for this season, with Martin Jol for Fulham and Alex McLeish for Aston Villa. Both managers will be eager to impress as both sides will want to challenge for Europe this season. There is no clear favourite in this match, but Fulham are priced at 6/5 compared to Aston Villa who are 23/10. I don’t want to sit on the fence and call this game a draw (23/10) but I believe one team will get the victory, and I reckon, due to their strong home form, it will be Fulham.

Correct Score; 2-1 (7/1)     First Goal Scorer; Bobby Zamora for Fulham (5/1)
Special; Fulham to score 4 or more goals (11/1)

Liverpool v Sunderland – Saturday 3:00pm

More so than in recent seasons, Liverpool have got some extra hype this season, due to a good second half of the season.  New signings Adam, Henderson, Downing and Enrique are all players with good Premier League experience and should excel at Liverpool. Strikers Carrol and Suarez looks a fantastic pairing and if they find a understanding then there is no reason why this Liverpool side can’t go all the way. Liverpool face a Sunderland side who signed more players than anyone else this summer, but also sold Henderson to Liverpool of course. This fixture last season was an enjoyable watch as the game finished 2-2. Sunderland gave a great performance and felt they could of won the game. Sunderland aren’t given much of a chance tomorrow mind, with them being priced at 13/2. Liverpool are 1/2 to win this fixture, and I’d back them, although crazy things can happen in football, and the first day you don’t know what to expect but Liverpool get my vote in this fixture, and it could be a comfortable win too.

Correct Score; 3-0 (6/1)     First Goal Scorer; Dirk Kuyt for Liverpool (5/1)
Special; Liverpool to win with 3 or more goals in the match (5/4)

QPR v Bolton – Saturday 3:00pm

After being relegated with Sheffield United back in 2007, Neil Warnock is finally back in the Premier League with QPR. He is one of the most interesting characters in English football and good to see him back. Their first match is against a capable Bolton side, and this should be a fascinating match. Bolton are 2/1 for this match and QPR are 11/8 so the odds prove what a close match this will be. Bolton started last season well, but faded as the season went on, and as for QPR, they are the one promoted team that’s got the best chance of survival according the odds. This is a close match, but I think with their first Premier League match in quite some time, QPR and their fans will be up for it, and will see their team to victory.

Correct Score; 4-2 (66/1)     First Goal Scorer; Adel Taarabt for QPR (7/1)
Special; Kevin Davies to score first (Bolton) and the score to be QPR 2-1 Bolton (60/1)

Wigan v Norwich – Saturday 3:00pm

As mentioned in the opening paragraph, Wigan started last season at home to newly promoted Blackpool and lost 4-0, and this season they will make sure that it doesn’t happen again. Norwich shocked everyone last year with automatic promotion, but are favourites to go straight back into the Championship. Wigan are EVENS in this fixture with Norwich at 11/4. These two teams will probably there or thereabouts in the relegation battle this season so this match is vitally important. I think Wigan won’t let the same mistake happen twice, and I think they’ll have too much for Norwich on this occasion.

Correct Score; 3-1(12/1)      First Goal Scorer; Connor Sammon for Wigan (6/1)
Special; Norwich to lead at half time, but Wigan win the match (22/1)

Newcastle v Arsenal – Saturday 5:30pm

This game was arguably the best of the season, and perhaps one of the best in the history of the Premier League. Arsenal were going for the title, and were 4-0 up at half time, but then got one man sent off and Newcastle managed to bring the game back to 4-4 in an epic final 10 minutes. Hopefully for the same again please. Arsenal are EVENS and Newcastle are 11/4, but the way things are going, I expect Newcastle to give Arsenal another tough game. A repeat of 4-4 is 150/ for anybody that thinks lightening can strike twice in the same place. I feel this game will be a lot tighter, and I believe that this game will still end in a draw.

Correct Score; 1-1 (6/1)      First Goal Scorer; Demba Ba for Newcastle (8/1)
Special; Both teams to score and Arsenal win (11/4)

Stoke v Chelsea – Sunday 1:30pm

Chelsea finished second place last season, and are second favourites to win the league this time around too. They started last season in emphatic fashion, winning the first 5 games scoring 21 goals and conceding just the one. New manager Andres Villas-Boas will have the spotlight on him in this game, as everyone wants to find out how he will cope in the Premier League, with such high pressure. His first game is a difficult one, as Stoke often fancy their chances against anyone, and particularly at home. They are a physical and effective side and this fixture last season ended up a 1-1 draw. I am going for a shock result here, and think Chelsea will lose, not sure why, just have that feeling. Chelsea are 8/13 to win, but I don’t see any value in that as Stoke are 9/2.

Correct Score; 1-0 (11/1)     First Goal Scorer; Ryan Shawcross for Stoke (33/1)
Special; Stoke to win or draw with 2 or less goals in the match (11/5)

West Brom v Manchester United – Sunday 4:00pm

The champions start their defence at a ground where they picked up just 1 on their 5 away wins last season. Hernandez was the impact sub as United won 2-1 there on January 1st. West Brom finished last season comfortably, but this season they will have to be wary about the drop. West Brom was the only team to take a point from Old Trafford last season, which was a 2-2 draw. Manchester United are the title favourites, and so far have looked really good in pre season. I am really looking forward to this fixture, and to see if this United team have improved on last season. The bookies think they are firm favourites at 1/2 and you would be a fool to back against them. West Brom are 6/1 to win this game, and you could say that they deserved to win this fixture last year. Sir Alex Ferguson played a very youthful looking team in the second half against Manchester City last week, and the team played fantastic and wouldn’t be surprised if he started with that team.

Correct Score; 0-3 (9/1)     First Goal Scorer; Wayne Rooney for Man Utd (4/1)
Special; Wayne Rooney to score first and Man United to win 4-1 (66/1)

Manchester City v Swansea – Monday 8:00pm

Last but certainly not least, as it will be interesting to see I new boys Swansea (11/1) can give the new big spenders, Manchester City (1/4) a real game! You’d have to back Manchester City, but if you are feeling lucky then betting on a draw (9/2) will give you some good rewards. Swansea are in the same boat as Norwich as the favourite to go down to the Championship. Manchester City fancy their chances of winning the league and many fans and pundits think they can go all the way this season. Their current squad is so strong, and now seems that Nasri is on his way too. They will have some great attacking ability, and also have strong defensive players. If they find a understanding between each other, and a healthy balance, then why can’t this City team get one over their arch rivals Manchester United. I expect them to have no problems on Monday night.

Correct Score; 4-0 (10/1)     First Goal Scorer; Yaya Toure for Manchester City (6/1)
Specials; Manchester City to score 0-1 goals (2/1)

Multiples

With each individual match now done, I’d like to just recommend some multiples for the Premier League this weekend. These are known as accumulators in the UK, but I think the correct term is ‘Multiples’. This involves betting on more than one match, and hoping they are all right to win great money! Obviously, putting less likely results will boost up for odds a bit (Swansea to beat Manchester City for example). I have done my 3 multiples and if you like the look of it, then bet on it!

Football Betting Tips – Premier League Top Scorers 2011/2012

As the season draws closer there a lot of questions amongst bookmakers and betters that need to be asked. One of the key bets placed amongst betters is who will be the top scorer this season? It's always hard to decide with there being so many contenders, dark horses and shocks come the end of the season. No one would of thought the 'flop' Berbatov would be joint top scorer with Tevez last season, though it was meant to be. Here's a look at the possible contenders for the top scorer award and how much money you could make from them!

The main contenders:

Javier Hernandez

An obvious contender is the hot finisher for Man Utd last season, Mexican, Javier Hernandez. Although he did find the net as many times as Berbatov he certainly replaced him towards the end of last season forming a great partnership with Wayne Rooney. Finishing is one of his main assets and has be likened to a young Michael Owen, with his ability to beat the offside trap with his explosive pace. For me though, it could go either way. He could be the top scorer and take the league by storm with mentoring from Sir Alex Ferugson or have an average season but I certainly don't see this boy flopping! Definitely worth the gamble. Odds are at 17/2 for Javier Hernandez if your betting at BetFair or Willliam Hill. If you put a cheeky tenner on it you will get £95 back including your stake!

Wayne Rooney

Wayne Rooney is another Manchester United player always tipped for great things at the beginning of the season although has rarely came close to reaching the top goalscorer spot. Although being an influential and gifted player he is not naturally a huge goalscorer like his partner Hernandez. He is often near the top but never number one although it could always be his season now! He hit some great form towards the end of last season, where he usually hits his top form and if he keeps that sort of form up he is within a shout as per usual. Odds for Rooney are at 8/1 at BetFair which means you'll rake in £80 profit if you bet £10 on him right now!

Robin Van Persie

Arsenal's Dutch hitman is another candidate on my list. When fit, and on top of his game, he is on fire and unstoppable, the kind of player everybody would like in their team. He has great technical skill and is able to find the back of the net comfortably. He will without a doubt play a big part in Arsenal's season assuming he can keep fit and will be their top scorer or thereabouts. As for the league, that is debatable. He is certainly a contender if he remains fit all season although that part of his game is a huge doubt. If he remains fit and keeps the form he has last season, he is a definite candidate. The odds on RVP are 10/1 at William Hill which means you'll make £100 profit if he comes in as top scorer!

Fernando Torres

Previously Liverpools finest, and now Chelsea's... not so finest. Torres will be eager to make a big start to the season after last seasons dissapointment. He is yet to top the scorer charts in the Premier League although he has come close in previous years being bested by the likes of Ronaldo. He is a natural goalscorer and will be working hard with his personal trainer at Chelsea to regain fitness and form. Under Andre Villa-Boas' attacking regime he may find the net a few times than last season. It's hard to judge for Torres cause his best seasons were under Rafa Benitez, who build the team around him and knew how to play to his strengths, so it's a question of where Chelsea and Villa Boas can do the same. You can get odds of 10/1 for Torres at most bookmakers like William Hill and BetFair making a clean £100 profit if you bet £10!

Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez is the Premier League's latest sensation coming from Ajax to Liverpool in January. He showed us some of the magic he can produce against Manchester United taking on 3 players to almost score and set up Dirk Kuyt. Now he has a fresh season to prove his worth. He scored a bucket of goals in Holland which so many players have done, and not been able to prove it over in England, but some has proven themselves. From what we have seen, Suarez won't be a flop but will be able to provide bundles of goals? So far at Liverpool he has looked more like the player who creates goals whilst scoring them, similar to Wayne Rooney although that may all change in Kenny Dalglish's setup this season. You can get odds of 14/1 for Suarez at William Hill bagging you a nice £140 profit if you bet £10 today!

Carlos Tevez

Carlos Tevez's future may be unclear at Man City but for the time being he seems to still be a City player. He was joint top scorer last season which ultimately makes him a contender for this season, how could you count him out? Although the only doubt is that will he be a City player come January? It's obvious he is willing to leave at any opportunity and January windows recently have been known for massive changes in Manchester City. If a team comes in for him with the right amount of money, the chances are he will leave. Despite this, there is no doubt he will still be scoring goals for City providing Mancini wants to play his Argentinian rebel. You can get odds of 21/1 at BetFair for Tevez which is a great deal, bagging you £210 profit if you bet £10!

Sergio Aguero

Fellow Argentinian Aguero has been brought into City as another superstar joins the ranks. There is no doubt in everyone's mind that Aguero is a class player who is hungry to succeed in the Premier League although this is his first season and adapting could be a struggle, or it might not - one question that needs to be asked! He will be playing along class players like Tevez who will help him fit in at the top of the pitch. He wasn't known for being a huge goalscorer in La Liga but then nor was Fernando Torres and he scored plenty in his first season at Liverpool, so it is up for debate whether Aguero will be a hit or miss this season although there is no doubting the class in the player. Are you confident in him? You can get odds of 16/1 for Aguero at William Hill, earning you £160 profit if you bet £10 once again.

Andy Carroll

Andy Carroll, like Suarez was a huge (literally) acquisition for Liverpool this January. He cost £35 million and has the weight of the kop on his shoulders. He is a typical English centre forward who possesses great power and height, meaning he can terrorise defenders with his physicality. Last season at Newcastle he was scoring plenty of goals before hitting a quite serious injury, in a team that looked mid-table at best most of the time. If him and Suarez can link up well, along with other Liverpool signings Downing, Adam, Enrique and Henderson, then Carroll could be bagging goals from left right and centre! You can make £200 profit if you bet £10 on Carroll, with odds coming in with him at 20/1 at William Hill.

Of course every season we look at those players with better odds who could possibly be a top scorer despite it being very unlikely - our dark horses! Providing some luck and good form these players could logically be thereabouts at the end of the season, although we could be proven totally wrong. These are bigger gambles, with bigger pay offs! Here are my choices of dark horses!

The dark horses:

Demba Ba

He's gone from West Ham to Newcastle to fill the missing striker gap and I believe he could be within a shout. He is a quality player for any Premier League side looking for a fast physical goal scorer. He did well for West Ham in the time that he was there and they will be dissapointed he didn't stay with them in the Championship. If Newcastle can perform well this season the chances are it will be largely because of Demba Ba, he is a worthwhile dark horse in my eyes. You could bet £5 on him and get a tidy £330 profit if he comes in on top.

Gervinho

Gervinho has been signed by Arsenal following an impressive season at French side Lille. Along with Hazard he was dubbed a class player at Lille after their impressive campaign in the French league. Wenger soon snapped him up though to add another French striker to the long list at Arsenal. He has been tipped to create great things at Arsenal and will do well to follow on from his decent pre season form. If he becomes the top scorer you could make £390 profit if you bet £10 on him, that's at BetFair at 39/1!

Nani

Nani had an outstanding season in the last Premier League campaign with Manchester United. He scored 10 goals which is pretty good for the midfielder, although not enough to be a top scorer. The reason which I include him is the rise in his form, and his likeness to Ronaldo. Although it's highly unlikely he will ever reach that level, if he can play in a similar position to him, like him, we could see him score more goals and potentially be up there come the end of the season, although it's a big gamble which comes with very good odds. Nani has odds of 123/1 at BetFair which could see you making a profit of £1,230 if you bet £10 and guess correctly. Although it's very unlikely, there is always a chance...

Asamoah Gyan

Asamoah Gyan has to be my favourite dark horse. I really rate him since last season, he was fantastic at Sunderland. He scored 10 goals for them in the league which is a good tally for a club of their standing. I believe he could potentially get a lot more this season, he is a big threat up front which decent pace and strength. Sunderland have improved their squad well which could see them become a better team and hopefully have Gyan perform better, I'm going to be putting a bet on him! Putting £10 on him will land you 660 profit if you bet at Coral with his odds at 66/1 there and 50/1 at most other popular bookmakers.

Betting on the Premier League Season Campaign

Betting on the Premier League Season Campaign

The Premier League season is going to start in 6 days time, so it’s now time to bet for the outright winners, relegation teams, top four teams and top goal scorer as well as others!

Premier League Winner

Manchester United are 13/8 favourites to win the league, and that is justified by the fact they are current champions, and their squad is looking stronger than last season. Chelsea are second favourites at 3/1. Can the new boy Andres Villas-Boas bring the spark back to Chelsea? At 3/1 the odds are fairly kind, as they will be there or there abouts. I don’t think Manchester City (7/2), Arsenal (10/1) and Tottenham (66/1) will win the league this season, but Liverpool at 10/1 will be a reasonable shout, it could be their year, but that isn’t where my money will be.

My recommendation; Manchester United – 13/8

Doing the Double

This is for betting on a team to win the league and one of their players to become top goal scorer too. The most likely option is Javier Hernandez and Manchester United double at 10/1 but I don’t think the odds are valuable enough. Here a few ones to think about, Suarez and Liverpool at 50/1, Sergio Aguero and Manchester City at 20/1 or Fernando Torres and Chelsea also at 20/1. I’d go for Van Persie at 66/1 with Arsenal winning the title, not because I think Arsenal will win the league, but if there were to go on and win it, Van Persie (if he stays fit) will be pivotal in that run and score most the goals. At 66/1 it is a risk, but will pay out a lot!

My recommendation; Robin Van Persie/Arsenal – 66/1

Top Premier League Goal Scorer

Last season it was Berbatov and Tevez but I don’t expect them two this year, considering the latter probably won’t even be at Manchester City. There are many options to choose from, but it will have to be a top player from a top club. I’m thinking Torres can perform better this season, but I am going to go for the dark house Luis Suarez.

My recommendation; Luis Suarez – 12/1

To finish in top four

Liverpool are EVENS to finish in top four so I’d go for them for sure. Manchester United and Chelsea seem certainties (1/25 and 1/16) so there is no point in even betting on them. Tottenham to finish in top four is 11/4. If they keep their squad, and focus on the Premier League, I have no doubts they can make it in the top four, and at those odds you’ll receive good money.

My recommendation; Tottenham to finish in top four – 11/4

Relegation Betting

Last season we saw a great relegation battle and I am hoping for something similar this season. Swansea, Norwich and Wigan are currently the favourites to go down. Other teams like QPR, Wolves, West Brom and Blackburn are getting a mention too. I have a feeling someone like Blackburn may go down, they weren’t far away last year and their squad has decreased in quality if anything losing Jones to Manchester United. Blackburn are 3/1 so worth some consideration. I fancy QPR to stay up after their impressive season in the Championship, but Swansea and Norwich I have a feeling will go straight back down. Wigan and Wolves were close to relegation last season, and I have a feeling they will be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

My recommendations; Blackburn (3/1), Norwich 4/7 and Swansea 4/7 to get relegated.

Betting on Manchester United v Manchester City – Community Shield

Betting on Manchester United v Manchester City – Community Shield

Finally, after a long summer, the football season is about to start, and the curtain raiser this year is the Manchester derby for the Community Shield. This Community Shield will probably be as competitive as it has been for a while. Both Manchester sides fancy their chances of winning the league this season, and both will not want to lose this match. Here are some betting tips and strategies for the Community Shield...

Outright winner

Manchester United (4/6) are slight favourites to lift the trophy on Sunday. Manchester United won the Community Shield last season, but Manchester City won the semi final of the FA Cup at the same venue back in April. I reckon that the match will be close and cautious, so it could probably end up on penalties (there is no extra time) so maybe betting on Manchester City to lift the trophy (11/10) will pay out better.

Match Betting

These odds are based on 90 minutes only. A draw is 9/4 and this would get my vote. Both teams are evenly matched, both will not be at full speed just yet, so I expect it to be a rather dull game. 0-0 is probably the most likely score line, and betting on a winner seems less likely than a draw, and the odds for a draw is far better.

Correct Score

As I mentioned above, a 0-0 draw would not surprise me one bit. Manchester City will be defensive, and United will be wary of the counter attack, so expect both teams to cancel each other out. 0-0 is at 8/1 odds, so the reward is certainly not bad at all.

Half Time/Full Time

Drawing at half time and full time is 4/1 and that is my most likely tip. However, if you are feeling lucky, then City to be winning at half time but ends up with United winning it is 25/1, very rewarding odds!

First Goal Scorer

Not sure what the line ups will be yet, but probably be a wise decision to bet once you know what they are. If you can’t bet then, I’d recommend Wayne Rooney as I am sure he will be starting and his odds are 6/1. If you fancy an outsider with longer odds, then perhaps a defender may score, as a set piece may decide this game, Vincent Kompany is at 40/1...you never know.

Score Cast

Score cast never seems like a betting type I have much success on, but have won big on this before. I usually bet on the first goal scorer to end up on the losing team, as odds shoot up a lot if you were to do that. For example, Berbatov to score first but City to win 2-1, will give you odds of 100/1.

Goal Crazy

For the final betting type, I like to bet on goal crazy. You can bet on the amount of goals a team scores, or just the match itself. For this one I am going to bet on Manchester United (8/13) and Manchester City (1/2) not to score more than 1 goal.

These are my recommendations, have fun betting, and hope you have luck on your side!

Risk or Safe Betting in Football?

Risk or Safe Betting in Football?

We all know that you can’t guarantee to make money when betting, but it is understood you can improve your chances by doing ‘safe betting’ although you will have to bet more to earn more, so doesn’t that make it risky? I will explain both types of betting, and you can choose which one suits you! Don’t forget, you can always vary between the two.

Risky Betting

Betting on long odds can bring in greater a reward, that’s undisputed. However, have you got enough  cash to bet on risky bets or do you bet little and still win decent money? Betting on a relegation threatened team to beat a team going for the title at home will be at least 8/1 and even better on some occasions. These can often happen during the season, and maybe punters like to put £10 or £20 on it to get a reasonable profit. It’s the equivalent to betting on a score in any match, for example, betting on Manchester United 2-0 Newcastle, will be like 7/1. Most football betting fans will put £10 or more on, to receive £100 plus if they get it right. These odds are no doubt risky, but it can get riskier. Betting on, let’s say, Rangers 4-3 Celtic, the odds will be similar to 100/1. This is definitely a risky bet, therefore spending more than £5 is probably not the wisest thing to do. Score casts are also risky betting, and the win rate isn’t exactly high, so wouldn’t bet too much on that either. Accumulators are as risky as you want them, if you want to bet on 4 matches, and all of those strong favourites, that’s when it’s worth betting £10 to £20 to£50 or whatever you can afford.

Safe Betting

This betting is when you have a better chance of winning than losing. A lot of people prefer this method of betting, and probably put more thought into each of their bets. It isn’t going to bring you big winnings (although if you want to bet a lot, you can win a lot) but it can definitely give you a better percentage. Whilst betting on football matches, there will be a lot of options, but search for short odds. Never forget that the odds are not as kind as they should be (do a lot of research on bookmakers, from my experience Betfair offers great odds, Ladbrokes on the other hand, doesn’t). Barcelona to win a home match against someone like Almeria is like 1/18, so you’d have to put on loads to win a little bit. Betting on odds which range from 1/3 and 10/11 are probably what you should look for. These odds pay out quite decent, and should win for you. To get odds like 1/3 from accumulators, it is probably worth betting on Barcelona, Real Madrid and Chelsea/Manchester United to win. The risk is far smaller, but in football strange things happen, and therefore you have to be wary of what you are betting on. Do as much research as you can to help you, look at form guides and if you can, head to head results bet after team line ups are announced too. It’s not particular ‘safe betting’ but betting on 50/50 bets can be beneficial, like ‘will there be even or odd amount of goals’ etc, where you are literally betting on a flip of a coin.

Safe betting or risky betting, whichever you prefer, just make sure you bet responsibly!

Football Betting

Football Betting

Football is the biggest sport in the world, and many supporters of football enjoy betting on it to make it more enthralling. Football and betting are some people’s favourite hobbies, and combining the two can be an enjoyable experience.

Where do I bet on football?

There are so many bookmakers, in fact too many, because sometimes the decision to join one can be hard. The most popular ones are BetFair, Ladbrokes, William Hill, Paddy Power and many more. All these bookmakers have shops which can be found in football stadiums, high streets and local areas. Not online are their shops, but all bookmakers have websites which are just as popular. You can now also bet using your mobile phone, so the betting community is continuing to grow. Some people do it for extra pleasure, but some try to make a lot of money from it. Obviously, all bookmakers let the customers bet on casino games like Roulette, but also sports, and football is one of the most provident ones. There is horse racing and dog racing which are good, but football is a sport that is enjoyable to watch, and bet on as there are so many ways to bet on football...

How do I bet on football?

Betting on football can be varied as there are many different ways to bet on football. There is a lot of football tips for betting, and many people have their preferences on what is the most profitable way of gaining money, or most enjoyable way of betting. Accumulators reputation is continuing to increase, that is when you bet on a list of football matches and you predict the outcome i.e. Home ‘Win’, ‘Draw’ or ‘Away Win’. If you put on three matches, and all teams are strong favourites to win (say Barcelona, Real Madrid and Manchester United) then the odds are not that good, somewhere in the region of EVENS at best. You would have to bet a lot, to earn a lot. However, if you put a bet on 10 matches, with a few unpredictable results, and the odds can range anyway from 60/1 to 6000/1, or even higher! With football, you can also bet on individual matches. Bet on the first goal scorer, the correct score, how many goals in the match, and hundreds more. It can make the match even more exciting but as long as you don’t bet on a match which involves your supported team! I have had done this many times in the past, betting for and against my team, but for me doesn’t add to the excitement. When a high profile match is on, I love to bet on it, and it does make watching football even more exciting and worth the small price you pay (if you lose) but the feeling when you win is fantastic. You can also bet on tournament winners like Champions League, Premier League and World Cup when they happen, and there are specials to like ‘Next manager to be sacked?’ and ‘What trophies will Arsenal win this season?’ and many more. A new betting type is during the football match. Odds change during matches, you can bet on next goal scorer and lots more. If a team is losing 2-0 at half time, there odds to win the match are far longer odds, and you will win a greater stake. This feature is used more online, especially during evening matches which are televised.

What are the main betting football tips?

The aim for betting on football is to enjoy yourself. You can treat it as a hobby, not an addiction. Have a spending limit, and once you start losing, don’t ever try to win back your winnings. There are a lot of strategies on how to win more money, but never risk too much money, because betting doesn’t guarantee money, no matter how good the football betting strategy is. As mentioned above, try and bet on matches where you don’t care about the outcome in terms of supporting, as it may ruin the reason why we love football in the first place, the pride and passion! Betting in shops is usually better than betting online. On shops you hand over cash, and in far more control about how you much you are actually spending. When betting online, it doesn’t feel like the same, and therefore people choose to bet on, and online it’s well advertised and hints at you to bet on more and more types of football. Bet responsibly, you hear it over and over again, but losing money and being addicted to gambling is not good times. Have fun time betting on football, and hope you earn that extra bit of cash!
