Norwich v Wigan – Betting Selections

Norwich v Wigan - 12th March, Sunday

Live on Sky Sports 1, 4:00pm kick off on Sunday!

One side is exceeding all expectations and the other is planted at the bottom of the table, struggling to get some consistency of results going. Norwich are 11th in the table, 15 points above their opponents this weekend, Wigan. On the opening day these sides drew 1-1, but Wigan will desperately want to win this game, as their 4 fellow rivals to stay up all face each other. Not many sides have won at Carrow Road this season, four to be exact, and all matches have been close. Wigan will need to pick up their performance because they are now favourites to go down, especially after two seasons where they have been saved from the skin of their teeth! Huge game on Sunday, but for Wigan, it could change their season.

Odds; Norwich (5/6), Draw (5/2), Wigan (10/3)

The odds for Wigan are kind, and away from home they do look more likely of getting the result they want. They have picked up 11 points on the road from 13 games which isn't too bad for away form for a struggling side. I think this match will be a draw, and Wigan will probably take that now.

Other Selections;
First Goal Scorer; Grant Holt for Norwich (9/2)
Half time/Full time; Draw/Draw (5/1)
Result after 60 minutes: Wigan winning (3/1)

Manchester United v West Brom, Swansea v Manchester City – Betting Selections

Manchester United v West Brom, Swansea v Manchester City - 11th March

Top two face tough opposition as they continue to bid for the title. Kicks off at 2:00pm on Sunday!

Manchester United and Manchester City both go into this weekend after losing in the Europa League on Thursday. Both are taking that competition seriously, but winning the Premier League matches is far more important. Manchester United have had some hard games in the Premier League of late, and now enter some more presentable fixtures, whereas Manchester City's are tougher, but they still have a 2 point lead, and entertain United towards the end of April. Every match is crucial and its going down to the wire, and perhaps there may be a few shocks this weekend. United host West Brom, the only team who took a point from Old Trafford last season. West Brom have been in fine form lately, beating Sunderland 4-0 and then beating Chelsea. Manchester United will have to be at their best to beat West Brom, but home advantage makes them overwhelming favourites. Manchester City's away form is far worse than their 100% record at home, and face a side who has only lost twice at home all season, in Swansea. They have been a credit to the Premier League, this season, but still not guaranteed to be in the league next season. It's going to be a nail biter on Sunday for the top two sides in the country.

Odds: Manchester United (1/4), Draw (9/2), West Brom (11/1)
.........Swansea (5/1), Draw (13/5), Manchester City (6/10)

Premier League shock on Sunday? For me I don't think so. The fact that both Manchester sides lost on Thursday, encourages me to think they will go about their business in style on Sunday. Both tough fixtures yes, but the twists and turns won't be happening this week, as I imagine that both of them will win.

Other Selections;
Both games to be drawing on the hour mark; (8/1)
Both Manchester sides to win 3-0; (90/1)
First Goal Scorers; Danny Wellbeck for Manchester United (4/1), and Yaya Toure for Manchester City (9/1)

Aston Villa v Fulham, Wolves v Blackburn, Everton v Tottenham – Betting Selections

Aston Villa v Fulham, Wolves v Blackburn, Everton v Tottenham - 10th March

Follow the first two on on Gillette Soccer Saturday, at 3:00pm! Everton's clash with Tottenham is on at 5:00pm on ESPN!

Tottenham have lost back to back matches, and now face a tough game at Goodison Park in the late afternoon kick off. Earlier in the season Tottenham beat Everton 2-0 quite convincingly, but since then Everton haven't lost in any competition. Everton haven't lost at home since early December, and in a decent form at the moment. Saha is against his old side, and hopes he can get on the score sheet as Tottenham need to get back to winning ways as Arsenal are improving. Wolves against Blackburn is the 2nd of today's massive 6 pointers. Blackburn are in 17th with Wolves in 18th, tied on the same amount of points, so it is unbelievably huge for both teams. Wolves won the reverse fixture on the opening day of the season. Aston Villa host an in form Fulham side, who are on the back of winning 5-0 last week and now placed 8th in the table. Aston Villa have had a disappointing season, but a few wins would cheer up the supporters and would hopefully like to finish the season strongly.

Odds: Aston Villa (13/10), Draw (23/10), Fulham (2/1)
.........Wolves (11/8), Draw (23/10), Blackburn (19/10)
.........Everton (7/4), Draw (23/10), Tottenham (6/4)

Hard unpredictable matches here, but I think Tottenham will get back to winning ways, with a close result against Everton. I also fancy Fulham nicking it at Villa, with Wolves and Blackburn playing a draw, with both teams scoring.

Other Selections;
All away teams to win; (22/1)
All games to have 2-3 goals in; (7/1)
Saha to score first against old side; (11/2)

Chelsea v Stoke, Sunderland v Liverpool – Betting Selections

Chelsea v Stoke, Sunderland v Liverpool - 10th March

Both 3:00pm on Saturday, follow coverage on Gillette Soccer Saturday!

Chelsea and Liverpool are both hoping to reach the Champions League next season, as they are in competition, with Newcastle, and the sides who occupy 3rd and 4th, Tottenham and Arsenal. Chelsea recently saved Andres Villas-Boas, and Di Matteo is taking charge for the remainder of the season. Stoke is always a tricky fixture for any team, but Chelsea have cruised past them at Stamford Bridge in recent seasons, including a 7-0 win a few years ago. They drew 0-0 at Stoke, on the opening day of the season, and the way Chelsea have been playing lately, Stoke will fancy themselves to cause an upset. Liverpool lost to Arsenal last week, and can only blame themselves, as they were the better team but couldn't convert their chances. They need are the least likely to get a Champions League spot, but there are a lot of games to go, and this is a particularly hard one. Since Martin O'Neil has taken over, they have been terrific, especially at home, and will make it hard for Liverpool. It was a 1-1 draw at the start of the season, but generally Liverpool have a better record at the Stadium of Light. Most recently they won here 2-0 towards the end of last season, but it will be harder this time round, despite Sunderland having quite a few suspensions.

Odds: Chelsea (2/5), Draw (10/3), Stoke (7/1)
.........Sunderland (11/4), Draw (23/10), Liverpool (Evens)

Tough ones to call here, but I think Liverpool will either scrape a win or get a draw, but given the odds, I'd tip a draw. As for the Chelsea game, my gut instinct is that they will win, but Stoke will give them a hard match.

My Other Selections;
Both matches to be draws; (15/1)
Liverpool and Chelsea both to win 2-0; (63/1)
First Goal scorers; Juan Mata for Chelsea (11/2), and Luis Suarez for Liverpool (9/2)

Bolton v QPR – Betting Selections

Bolton v QPR - 10th March

Live on Sky Sports Two - 12:30pm

This match is quite literally a '6 pointer' as Bolton sit in 19th position and QPR are in 16th, with two points separating the two. Bolton's home form has been very poor this season, picking up only 8 points, which is four less than their away record. QPR have picked up 11 points on the road, but have lost 8 away from home this season. These two sides met on the opening day of the season, as Bolton ran out comfortable 4-0 winners. At that stage, despite being so early in the season, Bolton had been tipped to be in the top half of the table, and QPR were on of the favourites to go down. A lot has changed since then, but these two sides firmly believe they will be in the Premier League this time next season. Bolton are still in the FA Cup, but for QPR, their only focus is on getting points in the Premier League, and a win here would be huge for them.

Odds: Bolton (13/10), Draw (9/4), QPR (21/10)

It's a tight one to choose, but I think, looking at the odds, an away win for me. I believe QPR have more about that at this moment in time, with more attacking options. Bolton have the pressure on them, so I would tip an away win.

My other Selections;
First Goal Scorer; Bobby Zamora for QPR (6/1)
Goal Crazy; There to be 4+ goals (21/10)
Half time/ Full time: Draw/Away (7/1)

AC Milan v Arsenal – Betting Tips

February 15th, 2012
AC Milan v Arsenal - Betting Tips

One of the ties of the round, if not the biggest tie of the round as AC Milan welcome Arsenal to the San Siro. These sides met back in the 2007/2008 season, where Arsenal won 2-0 on aggregate as they knocked out the current Champions League winners. In this current situation, the tie will be just as close as that one was. Arsenal may not be in the Champions League next season, so this match is going to be crucial for them. AC Milan haven't reached the quarters since the season went on to to win the whole tournament. Here are my betting tips for his huge match tonight!

Match Betting
AC Milan are the slight favourites on this one, but betting on any out come will give you more than double back, so it's a good match to bet on. AC Milan are 11/10 to win this match, with Arsenal at 14/5. A draw is 21/10, and that would be the one I go for. It won't be a high scoring match, and I think both sides may settle for a draw, especially Arsenal.

Match Betting; Draw (21/10)

Correct Score
There won't be too many goals in this one, as both will want to keep in the game without giving too much away. A 0-0 draw is at 8/1, with 1-1 at 6/1. I recommend either of them, but if you are feeling lucky, 2-2 is at 14/1. If you are going to bet on a winner, then I'd go for AC Milan tonight, with Arsenal getting an away goal, which will boost the winnings.

Correct score; 3-1 (16/1)

Half Time/ Full Time
This is the betting category that I am most successful with. I feel that the odds can be generous on this, and this can go any way in my opinion. Arsenal to be leading at half time, but for them to lose at full time is 22/1, which for me is good value. However, I'd look closely at the ones ending in a draw.

AC Milan at Half time, Drawing at full time - (14/1)

First Goal Scorer
Lots of candidates for this one.  Thierry Henry's last game for Arsenal with this current loan spell, so for him to get of the mark first would be at 7/1. Van Persie is the most likely candidate for Arsenal at 11/2, which is equal with AC Milan's Robinho and Pato. Ibrahimovic is the favourite at 4/1. I usually think defenders have a good chance of breaking the deadlock in tough close games like this. Thiago Silva is at 28/1 and Thomas Vermaelen is at 25/1.

First Goal Scorer; Theo Walcott at 10/1

Goal Crazy
How many goals in this match then? I have said before that it will be a close match. For there to be 0-1 goals scored, it's at 9/4. 2-3 goals is at 10/10 and over 3 goals is at 12/5. I'd go for the first option.

Goal Crazy; 0-1 goals (9/4)

Betting Tips – Champions League Tuesday

Betting Tips - Champions League Tuesday - February 14th

The Champions League is back, as Barcelona begin their title defence with a trip to Bayer Leverkusen and Lyon host APOEL Nicosia, this season's surprise package in the Champions League. It's been a long couple of months since the draw was made, but now we can look forward to the biggest club competition in the world. Some big names may not be here this time around, but there are still some mouth watering clashes. Here is some betting predictions for tonight's matches.

Bayer Leverkusen v Barcelona - 7:45pm
Barcelona have been quite poor in La Liga of late , having just recently lost to Osasuna 3-2 at the weekend. They are 10 points adrift, but they will want to boost their confidence with an important result against Bayer Leverkusen. The home side is 8/1 to to win tonight and take a lead into the return leg. A draw is at 16/5, with Barcelona favourites at 2/5. I wouldn't underestimate Bayer Leverkusen in this match as their home form is strong. Number one rule of betting on football is to not bet against Barcelona, especially in the Champions League. So in that case I would back them. Cesc Fabregas at 7/2 to score first, and Messi at 5/2. However, for better rewards, bet on Daniel Alves at 20/1. I'd tip a 1-1 scoreline too, at 8/1.

Betting Tip - Barcelona to be winning at half time, but lose at full time (50/1)

Lyon v APOEL Nicosia - 7:45pm
Lyon are rather fortunate to even be in this round. They managed to cement qualification on goal difference, as they recorded a 7-1 victory on the final group game. They have now been rewarded with a friendly draw against APOEL Nicosia, who are from Cyprus. They have been the surprise package, topping a group which included Shaktar Donetsk, and Porto. The visitors are 7/1 to get a victory here, but will be pleased with a draw at 3/1. Lyon are 4/9 and expected to take a positive result for the second leg. APOEL have achieved 3 draws in the Champions League away from home, so expect them to be tough to beat. I'd go for a draw in this one, and 0-0 is at 9/1.

Betting Tip - There to be 0-1 goals in the match (23/10)

Thank you for reading, and good luck!

Key Premier League Clashes – February 11th to 12th

Key Premier League Clashes - February 11th to 12th

A fantastic weekend of football has passed us and now we look forward to another this week. A lot of people live for the weekend, and I am one of those people, and one of those reasons is that I love what the Premier League can give us. We have some great matches to look forward to once again.

Manchester United v Liverpool - 12:45pm
Not long since these two last met, couple of weeks to be exact. A late Kuyt goal saw Liverpool beat United in the fourth round of the FA Cup. These two teams haven't played at Old Trafford since September 2010 where Berbatov scored a hat trick to win the game. Manchester United are favourites at 5/6, although in derby matches anything can happen and Liverpool are at 16/5 which is kind odds for the punter. Suarez is back in the action and is 7/1 to score first. Evra, is at 33/1, if you are feeling incredibly lucky.  I'd back Valencia to score first at 12/1 or Hernandez at 5/1. I think Manchester United will get revenge here and win, although I wouldn't rule a draw out.

Betting Tip - Liverpool winning at half time, but Manchester United win at full time (22/1)

Tottenham v Newcastle - 5:30pm
Tottenham are having a great season in 3rd place, and Newcastle are in 5th place having overachieved so far too. Both teams will be confident going into this, but Tottenham's home form has been superb this season. With Harry Redknapp related to the England job, their may be some distraction going into this match. However, Tottenham are strong favourites for this one at 1/2, but don't rule out Newcastle, despite them being at 6/1, so may be worth a punt. For first goal scorer, I'd go with Gareth Bale of Tottenham. When these two teams met in October, it was a 2-2 draw, and the same to happen again is at 18/1. Expect goals in this one, and a home win for me.

Betting Tip - Tottenham to win with 3 or more goals in the match (11/10)

Aston Villa v Manchester City - 4:00pm (Sunday)
My final clash we'll be focusing on is the game at Villa Park, where City are the visitors. Aston Villa beat City a year ago in this fixture 1-0, and with their current form, they would love to do the same again. Manchester City will want to prove they can win these tough games, especially as they may be 2nd when they kick off this match. Manchester City are 8/13 to win here, and all big clubs have already come here this season and won quite comfortably. Aston Villa are 9/2, but I can only see one winnner. Aguero for first goal at 3/1, but I'd go for James Milner at 16/1 against his old club of course.

Betting Tip - Handicap; Manchester City (-1) - (7/4)

Accumulator Tip
Everton v Chelsea (Draw)
Sunderland v Arsenal (Away Win)
Bolton v Wigan (Away Win)
Blackburn v QPR (Draw)
Fulham v Stoke (Home Win)

Stake: £5    Potential Winnings: £737.28

Key Premier League Clashes – February 4th – 6th

Key Premier League Clashes - February 4th - 6th

Another highly anticipated weekend in the Premier League, as some mouth watering clashes are due to take place. Here are the Premier League key clashes and some accumulator tips for the upcoming weekend.

Arsenal v Blackburn - Saturday 1:00pm
Vital game for both sides as both are going for different goals. Arsenal want to be in the top four again, but their recent slump in form has made it harder than it already was. Blackburn were doomed for relegation around Christmas, but a change of results since them has got their fans believing again. Blackburn are the only side to score in all away games this season, and I think this game will be closer than initially thought. Arsenal haven't won in four matches, so are due a win for me, but it will be close.

Betting Tip - Blackburn to score in both halves (15/2)

Chelsea v Manchester United - Sunday 4:00pm
This two sides are usually 1st in 2nd in the Premier League, and since 2006 they have been. However this season not the same, as Chelsea are in 4th, and struggling in fact to hold on to that position. The current champions, Manchester United are currently top of the league, joint with Manchester City. Manchester United have a terrible record here, and haven't won since 2002 in the league. However, their most recent visit here was a 1-0 win for them in the Champions League back in last April, and go into this game, with a big points difference, unlike past seasons. Chelsea have been dropping too many points of late, and haven't won in the last two. Manchester United to win their first Premier League game at Stamford Bridge since 2002? I think so. However, Chelsea are the slight favourites.

Betting Tip - Manchester United to win (7/4)

Liverpool v Tottenham - Monday 8:00pm
A crucial game to conclude the Premier League weekend. Liverpool are 11 points behind Tottenham in the Premier League, and not many would of thought that would be the case going into this game. Liverpool have lost to Tottenham in their last three matches, with an aggregate score of 8-1. Liverpool do generally have a good record at home to Spurs, but both sides will fancy their chances. Liverpool are 23/20 to win, making them favourites ahead of Tottenham who are 12/5. This could go either way, but I'd go for a draw.

Betting Tip - There to be 4+ goals in this match (13/5)

Accumulator Tip 1 - Love for the relegation threatened
Norwich v Bolton (Away Win)
QPR v Wolves (Draw)
Wigan v Everton (Home Win)

£5 wins £214.20

Accumulator Tip 2 -  Homer
Stoke v Sunderland (Home Win)

Accumulator Tip 3 - Anything can happen?
